Cucake Overload

Ok, I know it's a bit of a food day today on Egbert and Sparklehorse, but it is Thursday and the weekend although close is still not upon us, so in order to make it through the week I recommend a calorie free visual gorge on Cupcake Bakeshop. Page upon page of gorgeous beautiful cupcakes destined to make one aspire to patisserie goddess level. Go gorge, but I'd recommend making the Pear and Vanilla Bean Chocolate Cupcakes - for research purposes only of course...

Smitten Kitchen

The aptly titled Smitten Kitchen blog is my new daily obsession with beautifully photographed recipes and brilliant back-catalogue of food ideas I know what I'll be cooking for the next few months at least...

Macaroon time

When the recession is hitting hard, its cold outside and Christmas is a distant memory, console yourself with these amazing brightly coloured macaroons. Fairy easy to make (keep that oven on low heat to retain the colour) and amazing to look at and eat, these are the answer to all your problems.

Find the recipe at Time Out here

All I want for Christmas is....

Well all Egbert wants for Christmas is Le Corbusier, The Art of Architecture book to accompany the brilliant exhibition here in Liverpool.
Now, if only I had a spare 50 pounds....

This week we're mostly listening to...

Friendly Fires version of 'Use Somebody' by King of Leon for BBC's Radio 1 Live Lounge.

Hear and see it here

Sagmeister: My Hero

Stephan Sagmeister; controversial, exciting, a genius, are a few words that come to mind to describe the Austrian graphic design hero. From carving a poster into his flesh to interactive virtual spider webs, he has gone where most designers only dream of going.

His new book 'Things I have learned in my life so far' shows his recent work which he talked about last year in a lecture I was lucky enough to attend, and even meet the man himself.

Who said graphic design wasn't rock and roll....

Makes You Want One...

Ok, So I'm not the kind of person who would get a tattoo, the name Sparklehorse doesn't really equate to a hells angels style tattoo. But all has changed since I came across the flickr group Graphic Ink a collection of amazing graphic design and illustrative tattoos which make the commonly seen tramp stamps and butterfly/dolphin ideas look awful. Check out the pink Tord Boontje paper cut inspired tattoo.
I really want one of these, would Egbert mind....

Check them out here.

A Print A Day keeps bad design away...

Go see this brilliant blog with a free print a day. For all those print lovers, like myself who enjoy a odd repeated pattern or nice bit of illustration.
Egbert also likes a good pit of illustration - he just won't admit it...

This Week We're Mostly Reading

Dumbo Feather, Pass It On. The most strangely titled magazine we've ever come across but a brilliant and inspirational publication nonetheless.

Subscribe immediately for that coffee table creative chic...

This Week We're Listening To...

The incredible new album Jim from Jamie Lidell. Not to boast but one time in Berlin I sang a part of Multiply with the man himself! Amazing live, incredible voice, and those clothes...

Oh and did I mention he is incredibly hot? Sorry Egbert, but he is!

Blythe in Bangkok

Whilst wandering through the worlds biggest market in Bangkok I happened upon a shop selling fashion postcards of Blythe dolls, weird and wonderful I bough several for my friend back home who scarily resembled the blonde one.
